Thanksgiving Games

When planning and preparing for your holiday celebration, be sure to include some activities.  Consider the ages of your guests, including something for everyone. 

To help you get started, I'm including some printable activities that can appeal to all age groups, as well as some just for children.

Thanksgiving Bingo: 

A printable Thanksgiving themed Bingo game, with matching call out card.  The pictures are colorable, so you actually have two activities in one.  If you would like to re-use them, simply laminate and store with other Thanksgiving items.  For Bingo markers, you can use buttons, small stones, or construction paper cutouts.  These can be simple squares, or get creative with the shapes, such as fall-colored leaves.  Print-outs available HERE



 

Thanksgiving Bookmarks: 

Bookmarks are both quick and easy to make, as well as being able to embellish in a wide variety of ways.  Small enough to set on a side table, materials can be laid out so guests can make them throughout the day. The simplest materials is simply the printed bookmarks along with crayons, colored pencils, and/or markers. Cut them out before hand, if desired; their straight lines make it easy to prepare several at a time.

If you want to embellish them a bit more, include any or all of the following:  glitter, glue, decorative edging scissors, and construction paper.  You could also add items such as ribbon, yarn, and beads for a bit of tasselling.  Get templates HERE.

Thanksgiving Coloring Pages: Find all types of Thanksgiving coloring pages HERE.  Make a booklet of pages for your younger guests.  After printing out several different pages for each guest, put them together in fall colored folders.  Or place them together between sheets of construction paper and bind with ribbon or yarn.  To keep them occupied after the holiday meal, present each young guest with a booklet and small package of crayons (look in the party favor section of any local market for multiple small packs of crayons).

Guessing Games

For older children, it often pays to be a bit more organized. Find some simple pictures in a magazine, and cut them out. You can find such things as animals, cars, plants, or clothing. Glue them to a piece of cardboard and put them in a box so that each child can pick one without anyone else seeing it. Then, have the other kids guess what the image is from clues that are given out.

Believe me, a couple games and entertainment will do a lot for keeping your Thanksgiving fun for everyone. Keeping the kids happy will allow you to enjoy dinner and conversation , so try them today!
